Employment Standards
Non-Sworn Positions:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must have a GED or High School Diploma.
- Must have a valid Tennessee driver's license.
- Must have an honorable discharge from military service (if applicable).
- Must pass a thorough background investigation, including driving record.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Sworn Positions:
Must meet all the above requirements plus:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must meet standards set by the Tennessee Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (T.C.A. 38-8-106).
- Must not have been convicted of any felony or violations related to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor, or controlled substances.
- Must pass a medical examination.
Selection Process
- Pass a thorough background investigation

- Complete the Police Training Academy
- Complete a Field Training Program
